The Montreal-based band Patrick Watson and the Wooden Arms have confirmed a string of US tour dates in support of their new release 'Wooden Arms' (May 5/Secret City Records). Audiences can expect to hear the same eccentric instrumentation onstage as the band employs on the album, such as a homemade drum set (with parts discovered at a junkyard) and layered sound bytes created by drawers, tree branches, a plunger and more. The result is a compositional marvel Watson describes as "psychedelic without the machines."
While the band has toured with indie stalwarts Feist, Cold War Kids and Elvis Perkins, they've also shared stages with legends ranging from James Brown to Philip Glass.
Often compared to Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens and Jeff Buckley, Patrick Watson and the Wooden Arms describe their live energy as "creative and playful." NME Magazine online states, "As anyone who's seen him live will attest Patrick Watson and his eponymous band are... that rarest of artifacts... beguiling, strange, beautiful, moving - the sort of thing that makes the souls of cynical hacks do cute little cartwheels of joy..."
