TuneCore Undertakes Groundbreaking Marketing And Promotion Initiative For Its Customers

Band Webpages Launching Mar. 1

TuneCore, the digital download agent for musicians, is launching a groundbreaking initiative to market and promote its customers, helping them sell more music, raise their profiles and make more money. TuneCore band pages, free to any TuneCore customer, will officially launch March 1. (This feature is available in beta form now.)

The band pages will feature streaming songs, a MyDiscography page with a link to buy songs on iTunes, photos, tour dates and an option to become an official fan.

In an unprecedented move, TuneCore is working to build the technology to provide daily information on timing and location of song sales and streams by zip code.

In addition to the band pages, TuneCore has already launched a major effort to market and promote its customers' music, including:

* Marketing and promoting to iTunes and the other digital stores. (Over 150 TuneCore customers have been featured within iTunes including two customers as Single Of The Week in the past two months.)
* Giving away seven million copies of a 34-track playlist '34 Stars' on iTunes, featuring TuneCore customers Steve Vai, Dandy Warhols, Oh No! Oh My!, Public Enemy, Marillion and 29 more, tied into PayPal, Yamaha, Guitar Center, Obedia and Musicians Friend.
* 50,000 physical copies of the 'Fresh Cuts' CD - a compilation album featuring TuneCore customers Dweezil Zappa, Public Enemy and fourteen developing artists handed out for free in over 215 Guitar Center stores nationally in January with online and email promotion.
* Radio play in over 215 Guitar Center stores nationally with the song/artist/album tagged.
* Creating a Discover Music section of TuneCore.com with charts and online music discovery tools linked to music in the iTunes Store.
* Giving away hard copies and PDFs of an innovative free, 28-page booklet entitled "Music Industry Survival Manual: How To Market, Promote and Make Money from Your Music While Keeping Your Rights."
* Emailing over two million people with staff picks and best sellers each month.
* Possible involvement in selected public relations by Shore Fire Media.

In the near future, TuneCore will begin these taking these steps:
* Providing detailed demographic information on iTunes sales trends to TuneCore customers.

By the end of 2007, TuneCore customers will have earned over $4 million in music sales and over 100 customers will have been featured in the iTunes store. TuneCore has unleashed a brand new market force, allowing millions of musicians to sell their music globally via digital download stores. This has created revenue where none previously existed, literally refashioning the music industry.
