High School Musical 2 Star Chooses TuneCore
Lucas Grabeel, star of the record-setting film 'High School Musical 2,' has chosen TuneCore to release "You Got It," a song that is in the movie but not on the official soundtrack. The soundtrack to 'High School Musical 2' debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200.
Over 17 million viewers tuned into the Disney Channel's recent premiere of 'High School Musical 2.'
Grabeel is also a veteran of Smallville, Veronica Mars and Boston Legal as well as the original High School Musical. Grabeel is a Walt Disney Record artist. The High School Musical: Encore Edition DVD broke sales records when 1.2 million copies sold in its first six days of release; the High School Musical CD is quadruple platinum.
TuneCore.com, the new music delivery and distribution service has changed the 100-year-old rules and model of the music business. It is a low, flat fee service that delivers anyone's music to iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and many other major download sites while taking no rights and no revenue from the sale of the music. TuneCore's fees are simply based upon the number songs delivered and the number of digital retailers it will be delivered to. With Nielsen SoundScan already reporting almost 200 million digital units sold this year (and those are just the ones they are counting), it is no wonder that artists are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating more revenue than most "signed" artists while keeping their rights utilizing the new model created by TuneCore.
