TuneCore Gets Warped

Secures Slot For Ascendant Indie Band White Denim To Perform On Vans Warped Tour’s Ernie Ball Strings Stage Tomorrow, July 14 At The Smirnoff Centre In Dallas, TX

TuneCore, the music industry model-changing delivery and distribution service, has arranged for one of its customers, rising TX-based indie band White Denim, to appear on the Vans Warped Tour. White Denim will rock the Ernie Ball Strings Tour Stage tomorrow, July 14, at 2pm. TuneCore, in conjunction with Ernie Ball Strings, offered the spot to the band. The festival will take place at Dallas’ Smirnoff Centre (1818 First Avenue).

White Denim hailed TuneCore’s new-model approach to distributing music, saying, "We were pretty bummed about ripoff splits that most of the digital music companies offer. We were head over heels about TuneCore’s super low yearly rate. Then, a rep emailed us and asked us if we wanted to play a show for the Warped Tour. It's not only the best deal for digital music, but they're a bunch of sweeties too!"

TuneCore.com, the new music delivery and distribution service has changed the 100-year-old rules and model of the music business. It’s a low, flat fee service that delivers music to iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and many other major download sites while taking no rights and no revenue from the sale of the music. TuneCore's fees are simply based upon the number songs delivered and the number of digital retailers it will be delivered to. With Nielsen SoundScan already reporting almost 200 million digital units sold this year (and those are just the ones they are counting), it is no wonder that artists are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating more revenue than most "signed" artists while keeping their rights utilizing the new model created by TuneCore.

And TuneCore is constantly developing new ways to serve its customers. Recently the company has expanded its offerings to include marketing, promotion opportunities, free software and more. "Our goal is to provide our customers with the tools they need to succeed under a new model,” says TuneCore Founder and CEO Jeff Price. “Be it winning a tour van, getting a chance to play at the Warped Tour or downloading free recording software. We want to provide the services and information they need to succeed without taking any of the rights to what they have created."
