TuneCore Offers Free Podcast With Keyboard Legend & TuneCore Customer Ray Manzarek (The Doors, Riders On The Storm) May 24

TuneCore, the new music delivery and distribution tool, will offer a new full-length podcast interview with Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for the Doors and TuneCore customer, on Thursday, May 24. Manzarek shares anecdotes from the Doors history on getting signed to Elektra and on achieving the distinctive Vox keyboard sounds he used on the legendary recordings. Manzarek also talks about his current tastes in music, which lean towards electronica, classical and jazz, and offers his advice for up and coming musicians. Listeners also get to hear an exclusive preview of Manzarek's new partnership with composter/trumpeter Bal as well as an interview with Bal.

Here is the podcast, which will also appear shortly on iTunes: http://blog.tunecore.com

The new album 'Atonal Head,' a collaboration between Manzarek and Bal, is an
exploration of electronica. They have integrated jazz, rock, ethnic, classical and many other genres into their computer based creations. The musical performances and all the compositions are by Ray Manzarek and Bal except for "Caravan" by Duke Ellington and "Riders on the Storm" which features the voice of Jim Morrison. Bal also tells listeners about his story coming from communist Poland to Germany to the US and starting his label PBM Records.

TuneCore.com, the new music delivery and distribution service has changed the 100-year-old rules and model of the music business. It is a low, flat fee service that delivers music to iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and many other major download sites while taking no rights and no revenue from the sale of the music. TuneCore's fees are simply based upon the number songs delivered and the number of digital retailers it will be delivered to. With Nielsen SoundScan already reporting almost 200 million digital units sold this year (and those are just the ones they are counting), it is no wonder that artists are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating more revenue than most "signed" artists while keeping their rights utilizing the new model created by TuneCore.
