The Hold Steady rocked harder than your usual Letterman musical guests the other day when they taped “The Weekenders” to air Friday (April 30). Here’s the gang in the downstairs greenroom, me and Rob Krauser joining in for the post-taping fun. Speaking of that downstairs greenroom, legend has it that the several steel pillars in the room were installed during Ed Sullivan’s reign at the theater, to support the elephants he occasionally had on his show. Fact, or fiction?
